How to Recruit an MP
Imagine you are the recruitment manager for a company. You contract a recruitment agency to send you a worker on a long-term contract — perhaps maternity cover. You pay your fee, send them your job specification, and they send you a few workers to interview. None are suitable, for a variety of reasons.
You’d write off the agency fee as lost money, and probably go recruit elsewhere, or possibly assign the role to other workers for the duration.
Now imagine the agency was able to force you to employ one of the people they sent forth, even though you know none of them are suitable.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you our present system for selecting MPs.
